  • Squinting

  • Twitching

  • Dry eyes

What happens at a Children's Eye Exam?

Eye exams for children are much like adult eye exams. First, our staff will asks about your child’s health, including any eye problems, allergies and other health conditions. Next, we test how well the eyes line up, move together and see objects at different distances. These test create a baseline for the doctors.

The Doctor will place drops in your child's eyes to dilate the pupils.  After 30 minutes, the doctor will check for vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. The Doctor will also exam all parts of the eye to make sure they are healthy.

If the Doctor Finds any vision problems they will discuss the best courses of treatments.  If your child needs glasses or contacts, Somers Eye Center has a full service Contact Lens Department and Optical.
